TRUST....

Most times when I get stuck with life situations, I resort to reading quotations about the matter in search of a solution. Reading this one on trust put me at peace in one such situation.....

The key is to get to know people and trust them to be who they are. Instead, we trust people to be who we want them to be - and when they are not, we cry.

Expectation, if realistic, is perfectly justified. And just like opinions, expectations are innate to human nature. So, all we can do is never let any expectations made from us go unfulfilled (people should always be aware of where they stand with us...so that they may not have False expectations) and hope that sometimes ours are fulfilled too.

Great Expectations (Copywright Charles Dickens) work only in yourself. In the novel, the main character is ambitious and believes in that he can advance his life. He first longs to be rich, then he longs to be moral and lastly he longs to be educated...he achieves all that by constant self-improvement.

There are some people who get really lucky...they can find a partner from whom they can unapologetically have great expectations which are always fulfilled, even surprassed. For those fortunate people, Expectations are just a way station...for soon they become Certainities. For them all Expectations are Certainities and all Surprises are Good.

But the real question is not whether to expect, it is what to expect...isn't it? In a broader sense, the question is not whether to want, it is what to want. See, I believe that if you want something badly enough, you can get it...what ever its cost in effort, sacrifices, money even. So the "Master Key" is finding out what to want...or even better...what you want!

@TKS
Would love to hear your thoughts on the first three paragraphs.....Last part is about a distressing dilemma I face often...What should I want?
My readings, in search of an answer, led me to this prayer (originally by Reinhold Neibuhr) which provides me, from time to time, a moment of peace:

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever and ever in the next.
